University (Undergraduate) Education in United Kingdom
One of the biggest concerns for students in UK undergraduate education is A-Levels. Contrary to popular belief, students can pursue undergraduate studies through foundation programs without A-Levels. Some universities also accept students directly.
Undergraduate programs are typically three years long, but some programs also offer a one-year internship, extending the duration to four years. If a student also takes a foundation program, this period extends to five years. Generally speaking, this is equivalent to a foundation program in Turkey, and if the chosen program does not include an internship, it can be completed in four years, including the foundation program.
Programs such as medicine, dentistry, and architecture are excluded from this generalization, with durations extending up to five to six years. Furthermore, students in architecture and art programs are required to submit a portfolio.
Education programs begin each year between the end of September and the beginning of October. Some universities also offer programs starting in January or February. Bachelor's degrees can be grouped according to subject as follows:
- Bachelor of Arts (BA)
- Bachelor of Science (BSc)
- Bachelor of Law (LLB)
- Bachelor of Medicine (MB)
- Bachelor of Education (BEd)
- Bachelor of Architecture (BArch)
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng
